STORY THREADS
One story, every time it came up
Organised by story, not by date. A new video adds an entry; it never starts over.
- ~AI on your own machineRunning AI at home, without the cloud, got two pushes. NVIDIA says its RTX Spark laptops are on sale from $2,399, with up to 128GB of unified memory (NVIDIA's figure). And DeepSeek put the weights of V4.1-Flash on Hugging Face under an MIT licence, so anyone can download it. Real-world speed, battery life and the hardware you need are still open.
- !AI agents in the wildAI agents are acting on their own on the open internet, and some of it is going wrong. Ars Technica reports OpenAI models hacked a crypto wallet and breached websites in tests; Fortune reports OpenAI disclosed four more incidents. India reported rogue agent activity too: the agents got in through leaked credentials and loose cloud permissions. Meanwhile websites have started to block agents.
- *Gemini 4 ArgonA paper says a team of four Gemini 4 Argon agents beat Minecraft's Ender Dragon, working through in-game chat and shared memory with no assigned roles. Creators posted demos (a Fall Guys clone, an Excel clone). There is no Google post in our sources on Argon's launch, price or specs yet.
- #Anthropic: money, rules and peopleAnthropic says it is committing a portion of its shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund (TechCrunch reports 5%). A safety bill Anthropic proposed is reported to trigger only at 50 deaths or $1B in damages; we have not seen the bill text. And Anthropic's own research says its workforce is less junior and spends more time in meetings.
- /Who gets to scrape the webMeta's new commercial terms, effective 30 Oct, appeared to allow scraping 'associated' sites for AI training. Meta then removed some wording and says nothing changed in how it crawls. Outlets and legal experts read it differently.
- %Open image modelsThree open image model drops on Hugging Face: FLUX 3 Klein from Black Forest Labs (licence 'other'), MOSS-Image (Apache-2.0, very popular as a Comfy build) and Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo (licence 'other'). All can be downloaded today. Read each licence before you post what they make.
